Could PicoStream work at your site?

A practical hydropower option for homes, estates, mills and landowners with suitable water flows.

What kind of site is suitable

PicoStream is best suited to rivers, large streams, weirs, mill races and sites with a strong, consistent flow. Old mill sites are often ideal, especially where there is an existing drop in water level.

Every site is different. We assess flow, water speed, access, riverbank rights and installation options before confirming suitability. If you’re unsure, send us a few photos and we’ll let you know whether PicoStream could work for your site.

Will I have to wait years?

Traditional hydropower schemes require Environment Agency licences that can take years and add significant upfront costs.

PicoStream avoids this barrier. Because it does not abstract, impound or transfer water, the Environment Agency has confirmed that these traditional hydropower licences are not required.

A simpler flood risk activity permit may still be needed depending on the site. We handle this as part of the project, and once permissions are in place, installation can follow much more quickly than a conventional hydropower scheme.

Does it cost a fortune?

Conventional low-head hydropower schemes can cost hundreds of thousands of pounds before generation begins.

PicoStream has been designed as a lower-cost, modular alternative. The system is supplied as a fully integrated turbine package, designed to reduce installation complexity and make small-scale hydropower viable for suitable domestic, estate and mill sites.

A £500 site survey starts the process. We visit your site, assess suitability and provide an estimate of likely annual generation before you commit to installation.

Your next step

Start with a £500 site survey. We’ll visit your site, confirm suitability and estimate likely annual generation.

If your site is suitable, your survey and deposit secure your place in the installation queue. Installations will be allocated in deposit order as the next PicoStream units become available.
